Hi! We are the University of Oklahoma’s Beekeepers Association. We were founded in the Fall of 2018 and are looking forward to our first bee colonies later this Spring. A growing organization with 117 members and counting, our primary goal is to promote the wellbeing of honeybee populations in Norman. We also are working to increase public awareness regarding bees, partnering with other environmental groups on campus, and completing projects such as planting native perennials in an effort to promote sustainable landscaping practices.
Bees are incredibly important to both our economy and ecology; around 65% of our crops partially rely on pollination by insects such as bees. Sadly, pollinator species are declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, disease, invasive species, and changing climate.
Your donation will help us to establish and maintain bee colonies, help us undertake environmentally driven projects, and promote education both on and off campus. Every dollar you donate will go directly to achieving these goals, and we hope you will help our organization reach its full potential.
