In September 2024, Sophie gave birth to a beautiful, 7lb 3oz baby boy called Otto. However a few months later Sophie and Paul noticed that something wasn't quite right with Otto's breathing and that he was struggling to put on weight. They decided to get him checked out at their local doctors, despite multiple visits the doctors kept saying that it was just a cold and that eventually he'd put on weight and that it was nothing to worry about. Sophie and Paul continued to have their concerns and this was amplified when whilst at a family BBQ Sophie's sister noticed Otto had a lump on his neck. Sophie and Paul immediately took Otto to Exeter A and E where he had an ultrasound, as they were walking out of the hospital the doctors called them back in and told them to hang around as they had noticed something on the scan.

Over the next few days Otto underwent in depth procedures at Bristol Children's hospital including biopsies, blood tests, CT scans, inserting a line into his heart and a feeding tube. The results of these tests unfortunately confirmed that Otto had cancer. It was present in his neck, skull, stomach, spleen and leg.

Sophie has had to give up her job in care to support Otto with his extra needs. Paul has also had to have months off work for the many hospital trips and support at home. This fundraiser will help cover travel costs, loss of income and daily expenses, so that Sophie and Paul can concentrate 100% on Otto.

Otto has currently undergone 4 rounds of chemotherapy, but throughout his treatment has remained his happy, smiley self, which has made the nurses fall in love with him!
