Otto's Back Surgery
Donation protected
Otto is having surgery today to fix a ruptured disc in his spine. This is, sadly, something that can happen to long boys like Otto, regardless of their health & vitality. He's only five years old and lives a healthy and active lifestyle, so we are very hopeful this surgery will allow him to make a full recovery and return to his favorite hiking trails by springtime.
Otto is the light of my life and has brought joy to thousands of people online. He's raised tens of thousands of dollars for abortion funds by wearing silly costumes & making funny snack videos. He loves fruit, his brother, his electric blanket, and running wild & free in the woods. He's one of the happiest, friendliest dachshunds ever to exist and he loves to meet new people, especially kids. Seeing him in pain with this back injury has been just devastating and I'm willing to do absolutely anything to help him get back to his old self.
His initial visits to the emergency vet, before we knew what was wrong, were $550 and $600. His emergency consult, pre-surgical lab tests, pain medication, and overnight hospital stay last night was $1000. I put a $4000 deposit down on his surgery this morning. We won't know the final costs until he's ready to be discharged, but it's likely to be another $1000 or more, depending on possible complications.
I know this is a tough time for everyone and people's needs come first, but if you have anything to spare for sweet Otto, I would be so grateful.
