Ottobock GENIUM X3 leg prosthesis

My name is Oleksandr Musiy, and I was born on July 9, 1998, in Sokal, a city in the Lviv region of Ukraine.

In 2015, I entered the ranks of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy where I specialized in the control of mechanized forces unit operations. After graduation, in 2019, I joined the 8th separate mountain assault battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade as a platoon commander.

My first rotation (combat operations) was in the village of Vodiane near the city of Mariupol, between November 2019 and July 2020. My second rotation was in the settlement of New York (formerly Novhorodske) in the Donetsk region, where I stayed from February 2021 until November 2021.

When the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, on February 24, 2022, we were first defending the Kyiv region. We then had a long journey, ultimately ending up in Kharkiv. There, on May 5, when leading the offensive of my unit in the settlement of Tsupivka, I was wounded. As a result of this, my leg was amputated.

I have now undergone rehabilitation, and I would like to return to the army - protecting my home is what I’ve dedicated my life to… However, to do this, I need a prosthesis.
