Let's get Otto and Ember to the vet!

Hello friends!

Today, my partner, Ben, and I discovered two abandoned cats in the lobby of our apartment complex. They were in a small dog crate in the middle of the room, with nobody in sight. We eventually found out that their owners, a mother and her three children, were evicted today. They do not have the capacity to continue to care for them amidst their housing insecurity. We were able to contact the mother who told us to keep the cats, and animal control gave us the "okay" to re-home them ourselves. We have leads on a potential adoption option, but in the meantime, we would really like to get these two boys to the vet. They have no records and, presumably, no vaccinations. All we know about their medical history is that Otto is neutered, but Ember is not.

As a full-time student at a very expensive institution, I don't have the budget to get them the veterinary care they deserve. We expect there will need to be bloodwork, vaccinations, routine tests, and we will probably want to get Ember neutered, too. Animal Control offered us a discounted vet service, but they are booking out all the way into January, and we need to re-home these cuties much sooner than that.
