The phrase “generous and compassionate” falls short in its ability to define Lynda and Clement Roberts.
As active members of Carlsbad, they have been known to open their home to strangers, help people get into homes of their own, care for children of our community, and they even adopted a blind, special needs daughter who they have filled with love.
Not long ago, Clement's heart was attacked by a virus and now his health is critically poor. His deterioration resulted in the loss of his physically taxing job and his health insurance. Despite this setback, Clement continued to work to make home ownership possible for others. Unfortunately his heart is now so sick that simple tasks of daily living are only possible because he has an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator that frequently shocks his heart back to life.
Clement needs heart transplant surgery. It’s his only chance to survive. Meanwhile, Lynda works day and night, primarily as a babysitter. Despite securing new health insurance, their current benefits fall far short.
The result is that they have thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses just to buy the drugs that will hopefully bridge Clement until he receives a new heart.
We ask that you kindly support this family who has given so much, to so many.
