Hi, My name is Salma, and I'm fundraising for my brother Valdo.

Unfortunately, on September 5th, 2022, my brother was a victim of a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Winnebago and Jefferson. Valdo suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to OSF St Anthony, where they rushed him into surgery to save his life. While in surgery, his heart stopped multiple times, and at that time, we were informed that he had less than a 5% survival rate.

Valdo was born in June 2004; he is the sweet 18yr old boy with the biggest heart and cheesiest smile! At the age of 16yrs old, he decided it was time to start working because he wanted to help our dad with paying the bills and anything else that was needed around the house. He was always very responsible and had the biggest heart. He loved spending time with his friends and was in the process of finishing high school. My brother had a whole life ahead of him, and unfortunately, due to the accident, we don't know if he will be the same once he fully wakes up. At this point, my brother has neurological damage, and we don't know the extent of the damage. My brother has a long road ahead of him, and my parents will need help with all the medical expenses and any long-term necessities that my brother will need. We would greatly appreciate it if anyone would like to help my family during this difficult time.

Desafortunadamente, el 5 de septiembre de 2022, mi hermano fue víctima de un accidente de tres vehículos en la intersección de Winnebago y Jefferson. Valdo sufrió lesiones que amenazaron su vida y fue trasladado de urgencia a OSF St Anthony, donde lo llevaron rápidamente a cirugía para salvarle la vida. Durante la cirugía, su corazón se detuvo varias veces y, en ese momento, nos informaron que tenía una tasa de supervivencia de menos del 5 %.

Valdo nació en junio de 2004; ¡ todos lo conozen como una persona amable y buena onda! A la edad de 16 años, decidió que era hora de comenzar a trabajar porque quería darle lo mejor a su familia. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con sus amigos y estaba en proceso de terminar la secundaria. Mi hermano tenía toda una vida por delante, y lamentablemente no sabemos si volverá a ser el mismo una vez que despierte por completo. En este momento, mi hermano tiene daño neurológico y no sabemos el alcance del daño. Mi hermano tiene un largo camino por delante y mis padres necesitarán ayuda con todos los gastos médicos y simplemente para sacar a mi hermano adelante. Por eso apelo la genorsidad de la gente que pueda donar lo poquito a mucho para poder sacar a Valdo adelante.
