The Oswego State Club Roller Hockey team has been competing in Division 2 of the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association, against colleges from all across the country since it's inaugural 2010-2011 season. Despite not having a coach or a practice facility, and having a few members of the team quitting half way through the season, the Lakers have came together as a team, winning their last three games of the season to jump into the fifth seed in the 2016-2017 ECRHA regional playoffs.
But this was only the beginning for Oswego. After losing their opening playoff game in a close one goal loss, they would rattle off wins against the third place Yeshiva Maccabees and the number one overall seed Stony Brook Seawolves. The Lakers would move on to face the Endicott Gulls in a rematch of the opening round, with the winner moving on to the championship game and getting an automatic bid to the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association championships, taking place from April 5th-9th in Fort Myers, FL. The Lake Show would continue their improbable Cinderella story by upseting Endicott 4-3 and advance to the ECRHA championships, where they would fall short to the former Division 1 Northeastern Huskies.
Our Cinderella story to the NCRHA National Championships has started to give the Oswego Lakers name some national recognition. Please support our run to Fort Myers and continue to put the Oswego State name on the map by helping us reach our goal of $10,000, which will go toward travel and hotel expenses, national bid fees, and practice time in Florida.
