Ossamah Sharafuddin's Legacy
Ossamah Sharafuddin was a kind-hearted and spirited individual who took great pride in his faith, family, friends and home - Yemen. On May 6th, 2020 at the young age of 23, Ossamah lost his fight against Type I Diabetes. His vibrancy touched so many people and as his family and friends, we would like to reciprocate even an ounce of the impact he had on our lives. In honor of his memory, we have started this collection to supply drinking water to those in desperate need in his home country. Join us and others around the globe as we partner with WF-Aid to raise $35,500 in order to provide those suffering in Yemen with clean water as their crisis continues to worsen. Knowing Ossamah's love for his home, we hope that this would be something he would want to contribute towards.
Where The Money Goes:
$3,500 will be used to build 7 water tanks each holding 5,000 Liters which are filled twice a week providing drinking water to approximately 700 families in Sana'a, Yemen. The location was chosen due to the large population, wide scale poverty, increasing risk of Cholera, spiraling unemployment, increased amount of displaced families, and the lack of drinking water being supplied by the State Water Corporation.
WF-Aid has a team of local Yemenis on the ground spear-heading these projects who will continue to provide us with photographs as the projects are taking place. Their most recent water tank in Yemen was completed in April 2020 which took four months. Their estimated completion time for water tanks is approximately 3-6 months. A final photograph will be provided upon completion which will be shared on our Facebook Page "Ossamah Sharafuddin's Legacy".
$32,000 will be used in Habab - Suruah/Ma'rib, Yemen, to install a Solar Power System for a well and to create an 1500 meter extension, connecting them to tanks which provide easy access to safe drinking water. The estimated time for completion of this project is approximately 12 months. A final photograph will be provided upon completion of this project which will be shared on our Facebook Page "Ossamah Sharafuddin's Legacy".
