Oske’s spinal-cord injury journey
Donation protected
Hello, Hensci (Mvskoke) I’m Oske’s mother Tess. We were involved in an automobile accident in the summer of 2021. Oske suffered a T2 spinal cord injury complete, as incomplete diagnosis which as of right now left her paralyzed from the waist down. We lost her a couple times but she is now here for the purpose of only the creator knows. They said so many things that she doesn’t look nor close to those diagnoses. Thanks to God/creator. She spent 5 months at OU childrens hospital and couple months at Bethany children’s center which our stay, her team, her nurses, and doctor were amazing. We are asking for help with travel expenses for her physical therapy, medical appointments, wheelchairs, and treatments. Some of the things insurance doesn’t cover. She loves to swim!
We reached the goal for her pool and we believe it has been doing amazing things, the other night she unfolded her legs and straighten herself, which we are all still happy for that. But, I recently exhausted my unemployment & been unemployed to give and be there for her and her 8 month old sister. I have always worked and not working is taken a toll on me but creator is where she wants me to be and I want to take the time to be in touch with ceremonies which is on our dinè (Navajo) side so out west is where we travel, healing, ceremonies and starting school in the fall but Since it’s summer, I am pushing for therapy to the max while she is out of school and hopefully inpatient therapy, she’s on the waiting list because I believe one day she may walk again just wait and watch but I want to do every thing possible to help with that. She loves to swim and I believe that’s one of the best therapies. She has movement but her brain waves still are not making the connection. We finally got the referral to see a neurologist this Friday 7/14/23. Some of the things we are wanting to do sooner care/insurance doesn’t pay or help with so again here we are. My daughter is ready to go back to school already. Oske is a straight A student & loves to read! Every night she prays & has the biggest heart ever. You can ask anyone. She will think of you before herself. I’m asking help to get her to where she can be without worries. Please anything helps & she is also wanting to do adaptive sports as well but from where we live, we live an hour and half from the city for her to get these types of help and more therapy. I am trying to stay humble and as one! Oske is Cheyenne, Dinè, and Seminole. She is a member of the Seminole nation of Oklahoma, she is of the Eufaula band member, and of the Eco clan. She is 9 years old and loves the outdoors. She is a big sister whom she loves to play with. She is just the amazing child, anyone could ask for. She has beaten the odds that the doctors had said against her and I believe she will do just that with y’all help prayers, and even words of encouragement. I couldn’t be anymore thankful. I set the goal high because we have a long road to recovery but ANYTHING helps, prayer helps and thank you so much. If you would like to send us sage, cedar, eagle plumes, or feathers or anything in your religion or beliefs are welcome too. Just get a hold of me on Facebook. Also, we want to purchase a newer wheel chair that allows her to go on hikes, dirt, and such, she loves pow wows and use to dance but we are traveling so she can enjoy life as well, Soonercare said she isn’t allowed for a new wheel chair til 5 years but my baby is growing. She has asked for beaded moccasins for her to wear every other day or often to give her a break and heels a break so we don’t have pressure sores as she goes back to school.
We love sight seeing and hiking. She also loves to paints & is amazing at it.
As a mother, and her mother, I’m going to do whatever it takes to do my best with therapy, hobbies, and whatever makes her happy! Her dad already does everything in his power to make sure she lives a normal life & she believes no one can tell her different. She’s determined, resilience, strong, brave, and unique. We believe we are going to defeat the odds. Since I had received a rude message, I’m asking positive messages, and blessings only. I turned off the comment section.
You don’t know what it’s like to live our life. We are 100% surrounded with positive, humble, and smudging on this healing journey thank you (mvto)/ahe’hee creator for our chance at life again. You will see your gift for her to walk again… and thank you guys again.
Update 10/16/23 Oske is making straight As and rocking her reading and spelling test. She is now 4’11 and still growing! She loves to paint, listen to music, read, and anything to do with her little sister which is now one. Oske last PT felt below her injury on the nerve stimulation machine which is a great sign. We have an MRI coming up next year with all prayers and faith hope this MRI shows a difference than the one during the car accident which will be 3 years from now, but we are still walking by faith and not by sight. We have so many supporters and we want to thank each and everyone of y’all, y’all are in my prayers, and we love each and every one of y’all!!! Oske is also mastering her own art canvas & is ready for Halloween!!!! Again, we thank each and every one of y’all for the love & support. I am still at home we are lifting weights more, and watching our eating, and water. Because water is life!!! Oske wants to say mvto to every one as well & please keep a look out on Facebook as well for her journey… O is still healing ⭐️
Mvto/ahehee/ thank you,
