Oscar's Pawsitive Path to Recovery: Vet Bills Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi my name is Amanda and I'm Oscar's mom.
Oscar has chronic kidney disease and on Thursday I noticed that he was dehydrated. I was going to bring him in for subcutaneous fluid when I noticed that he tried to urinate twice and nothing came out. I then realized he hadn't peed that morning either.
Instead of the sub q fluids the vet brought him to the back to do a cystocentesis but then came back in the room and said that she couldn't do it because his bladder was too full and she was scared it was going to pop. She explained that she thought his bladder was blocked and that he was going to need a procedure to unblock his bladder and then have a catheter put in.
When they did the procedure, they were able empty his bladder and put the catheter in. She said that there were lots of crystals and that he had a urinary tract infection. He also had to be hospitalized for several days. Without this intervention, I would have lost Oscar.
This all happened on Thursday. He stayed at his regular vet Thursday night and Friday during the day and then I had to transfer him to another vet clinic because our vet clinic closed for the weekend.
He got his catheter out on Saturday morning and was monitored until Sunday to make sure he could pee on his own without blood.
I am so grateful that I was about to catch it on time and that he is now home safe with me and his brother Felix who missed him terribly while he was gone as well.
The total of the bills came up to 2745.14$.
The weekend vet bill is diveded in the three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
I put the fundraising amount at 3000$ because we will have to go back in two weeks for more tests to make sure everything is going in the right direction and those tests will cost 450$.
Oscar is so incredibly important to me and I don't know what I would have done had I lost him.
I am chronically ill myself and disabled as a result. I put everything I have into caring for my cats.
Any help will be grately appreciated. We are so thankful for the friends we have met on social media and the wonderful cat community.
