Hi, I’m Oscar. I’ve been legally stuck in a marriage that ended years ago due to an unresponsive ex, and I’m trying to raise funds to finally finalize my divorce. This would allow me to move on, build a future with my girlfriend, and close a chapter that has taken a serious emotional and financial toll

I’ve always been the joker, the guy who doesn’t let things get to him, who helps others, who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. And that part of me is still here.

But even the strongest people get tired.

Turns out love may be free, but legally becoming single again is… not.

I got married in 2017. About a year later, the relationship ended, she moved to Florida and started a family down there and im genuinely happy for her. Since then, I’ve spent years trying to contact her to finalize a divorce… only to be blocked at every turn. Calls, messages, Instagram, Messenger, Snapchat, etc., all ignored and blocked. The marriage ended long ago, but legally, I’ve been stuck in limbo.

For context: we’ve technically been married for eight years, but we were only actually together for one. The rest has been silence, avoidance, and delays I couldn’t control.

After a long time, and with the help of a mutual friend I didn’t even know we had acting as a mediator, I finally have a path forward to complete this divorce. At this point, it is mutual, but she has not contributed financially in any way. That means the responsibility has fallen entirely on me.

Meanwhile, life didn’t stop. I’ve rebuilt, healed, and found love again. I’ve been in a healthy relationship for over two years, and I want to take the next step, to build a future with my amazing girlfriend who has been extremely supportive in these trying times. But I can’t do that until this chapter is officially closed.

I won’t sugarcoat it, this process has taken a serious toll.

The emotional stress, lack of sleep, mental health strain, and day-to-day weight of being legally tied to a past that ended years ago has been exhausting. Add in debt, legal delays, and trying to keep moving forward professionally, and it’s become overwhelming.

I’ve already paid:

Court filing fees, courier services, notary and document fees, copies and certified paperwork, and attorney consultations.

Every dollar so far has come out of my pocket or the pockets of those closest to me, but while it’s helped me get the process started, there is still much more. And without continued funding, the divorce risks stalling again, prolonging the financial entanglement and the emotional impact even further.

I’m not asking for luxury or excess. I’m asking for help covering the bare minimum needed to finalize this properly, and still far less than a full contested attorney divorce would cost.

Finalizing this divorce would let me finally move on emotionally, build a future with my girlfriend, focus on my work, and stop losing sleep over paperwork that should have been done years ago. I am more than ready to close this chapter and start the next one.
