Kristin & Missy here on behalf of our baby sis, Amy and her sweet cat son Oscar.

Some of you may or may not know that Oscar has been dealing with some health issues that have come up over the past few months. He was diagnosed with diabetes (the Beetus) in June after Amy noticed that his water intake increased and he was straining to use the bathroom so hard the poor guy threw up. Once they had a diagnosis his food was switched accordingly as well as incorporating twice daily insulin shots.

After about a month they were making some progress but fast forward to a few weeks later and things still weren't right. Amy & Matt took him back to the vet to get another check on his blood, fructosamine test, and found his average glucose was extremely high (700) and so the vet decided to increase insulin, however after 2 days on the higher dose Amy tested his shuggs and realized nothing was moving. He had insulin with his breakfast but by afternoon his blood glucose was still going up.

Amy also noticed that poor Oscar peed on himself, so she called the vet to see what the next steps were and thats when they were directed to emergency at Blue Pearl.

There they ran a ketone test and it showed he had some (fat) in his urine. Making him DKA (Diabetic ketoacidosis is a serious complication of diabetes that can be life-threatening).

Right now the vet is doing some tests to figure out if theres an underlying issue other than DKA that is making him insulin resistant.

Needless to say the vet bills are piling up and they could use any help you would consider giving. Amy has always been first to show up for any of her friends and family. Down to help with anything she can and always there when it counts, even when it doesn’t. We all know the beauty that is Amy and the light that shines out our favorite self employed artist. I know we’d all do as much as we possibly could to help our fur babies and that is why I am asking for you to consider donating to help Amy & Matt help Oscar.
