Oscar has been my sweet cat for nearly 11 years, staying by my side through all the ups and downs of life as my biggest constant over the last decade. When I packed up my car to move across the country, Oscar was right there along for the ride, ready for our next adventure. Now, he needs help that I could really use some support with. Oscar has dental fractures that have started to cause infection and root exposure, and the vet says he requires surgery. I hoped his insurance would help, but because the fractures are considered pre-existing (even if they didn’t cause problems previously), they won’t cover the cost. To complicate things, the vet also heard a heart murmur at his last visit, which could make the surgery both riskier and more expensive.

I’ve always made every effort to ensure Oscar gets the care he needs, but this expense comes at a time when I have a very limited ability to work due to the demands of nursing school. On top of Oscar’s medical needs, my car recently required a new radiator and tires, and my laptop needed to be replaced. I’m reaching out because Oscar means the world to me, and I want to make sure he gets the care he deserves, even if that requires asking for additional support right now.
