It is with great sorrow that I inform you all that Oscar Gabaldon, Jr. has passed away as a result of Covid-19 infection and subsequent development of Covid Pneumonia. He was hospitalized and fought very hard to survive the illness for more than a month.  My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. I created a GoFundMe to help his wife, Martha and his children, Marissa, Cindy and Oscar Gabaldon III. The family needs help with funeral expenses and any additional costs, as they are currently also still in the long process of addressing medical expenses that were incurred prior to Oscar’s illness and passing. Mr.Gabaldon was the sole source of income for the family.

As many of you all know, Oscar was in a near-fatal car accident last year, in which a drunk driver’s vehicle rolled into oncoming traffic and directly on top of Oscar’s car.  The accident resulted in fracturing of his C-1 vertebrae, which normally results in death or paralysis.  By the grace of God, an extremely delicate surgical process, and several months of rehabilitation, he made a miraculous recovery coming into 2020.  Unfortunately, the involved drunk driver did not have auto insurance and therefore, all medical expenses fell on Oscar and his family.

A few months later, in August, it was discovered that Oscar was suffering from atherosclerosis involving major arterial blockage.  This was another potentially fatal situation that required immediate surgery to address. All of these prior medical expenses, as well as his month long stay in the hospital as a result of Covid-19, has incurred a tremendous debt for the family.
