Oscar was born without any Tibia bones in his legs, he did not have properly formed ankle bones or knee joints. Oscar had a rough start from the beginning of his life. He was born 9 weeks early and suffered complications with his Bowel of which we were not aware or prepared for. He was rushed to Chelsea and Westminster hospital in London. He had his first operation at 3 days old and stayed in their Neonatal ward for 3 weeks.  He was then transferred to Watford hospital and lived there for a further 4 weeks. After what seemed like forever, we got to bring our little boy home. However, the happiness was short lived as he suffered a perforation of the bowel and was very sick. He was rushed to the Royal London Hospital and endured an 8 hour operation. We lived there for 3 months whilst he recovered and then was moved back to Chelsea Hospital to become a long term patient. During his stay he was tube fed and had a further 8 operations on his bowel and tummy. When he was 11 months old we finally got to take him home!

Things were up and down for a while but we soon settled into our lives, then came the time to discuss Oscar's double leg amputation, as without this surgery he would be wheelchair bound. This surgery gave him a chance to move freely which is something I never thought could happen. Oscar had his amputation operation 20th September 2018. It was a day we will never forget.

Oscar will need support throughout his life with the need for adaptations within the home and outside environment, although we have raised funds towards prosthetic equipment, His needs are not completely funded by the NHS. Now Oscar is getting older, we are starting a new campaign to help his future needs.

Many Thanks
