Osbourne's Spinal Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Osbourne is a 4-year-old, rescued Papillon. He is very active and loves going to the park, long walks, and meeting new friends at the bar.
Mom noticed he was being just a little too good, suspiciously good, and brought him into the vet for a 2nd opinion. The doctors found that he had a herniated disk, which can cause paralyzation and possible death. We caught it early, but he needed emergency hemilaminectomy on his L3-4 to prevent further damage. This has racked up over $8000 in emergency vet bills, with rehab costs on the way.
The doctors are amazed at his recovery. One day after his surgery, he was already trying to walk! The surgeon said, "He didn't walk in here and he's not going to walk out of here," but Osbourne did indeed walk out of the hospital just two days after major surgery.
Oz has continued to improve, even trying to jump and handle stairs--strictly prohibited behavior! While he has a long road to recovery, he should rebound completely with rest and rehabilitation. Mom wouldn't have put him through anything he couldn't bounce back from with a long life to live.
