Orthotic Helmet for Orion
As most of you know, Orion was born at 34 weeks and had a 4 week NICU stay. During his stay he developed plagiocephaly torticollis because of his positioning from his CPAP. Because ofthis he has a skull deformity and it also pushedone of his ears forward. In June we learned he would need a orthotic helmet to help correct this. He was seen at OHSU and referred to a clinic here in town for his helmet. We just got the letter in the mail that our insurance (TriCare)is denying the claim. Now we are trying to raise the money to pay for his helmet. I spoke withThe Hanger Clinic and the total cost is $2,500.00. We are in a very short window to get him in a helmet because he is already 10 months old and to be successful, he will need it before his 12 month birthday (8/27).
It has taken a lot of courage to post this as we have never asked for help, we have always provided for our children. If it wasn’t such a time crunch, I’m positive we could do it. We just don’t have the time that we need. Anything helps and we greatly appreciate everything.
