NO EDUCATION . . . NO LIFE!!!
This year, Kasandra completed middle school graduating with good marks. She lives at Selca e Siperme, an isolated village, and a 30-minute walk to the nearest road. In the Fall when school begins, Kasandra lives too far from the nearest high school to participate. Her dream of bettering herself through education and attending University fades a little each day as Fall approaches. Her sisters, Blerina and Romina, along with their brother Fernardo, face the same hurdle.
Kasandra
The family has lived at Selca e Siperme ever since their mother, Valbona, settled there with her husband, 17 years ago.
Together they raised their children, ‘til a few years ago when her husband died. For Valbona, and her orphaned children, life has been a big challenge. The family survives on Valbona’s meager monthly pension, the vegetable garden, eggs from chickens, and milk from a few goats.
Fernardo
Needing a solution to end their cycle of poverty and to find a pathway to higher education, the Guardian of Children Foundation, whose mission is to help orphans in need, approached Valbona with a proposal to help Valbona’s family by moving them to a house in Remenj, a village near Pogradec, with a high school nearby. The costs involved in this move is $5,400 which will provide for the move and setting up house in Remenj. The new house has a vegetable garden, space to raise their animals, and employment opportunities in Remenj. Within a year, the family should be able to achieve self-reliance.
Blerina
All of the Valbona’s children are registered with Guardian of Children Foundation, and following high school, a free University education is available to them. Valbona knows that a higher education will give her children a far better chance of earning a livable wage. Presently that prospect is out of their reach.

Your contribution to help Valbona’s children have access to higher education is greatly appreciated.
