"There ain't no easy way out. Hey, I will stand my ground. And I won't back down. No, I won't back down." - Tom Petty

As many of you know, in June 2018, my aunt, Orly Goldman, started her courageous battle with a very aggressive and rare form of cancer known as Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma or ACC. To put into context just how rare her diagnosis was, one in every one million individuals is diagnosed with the disease each year.

Shortly after major surgery to remove a 17-centimeter tumor from her adrenal gland in July 2018, we learned that her cancer was stage 4; it had spread to both her lungs and liver. Rather than being fearful of her diagnosis and bleak prognosis, Orly attacked her disease like the fierce warrior she has been her entire life. Her mission was simple – to live a long and fruitful life with her husband, Andrew, and their two young children, Aden (7) and Ella (4).

Since it is so rare, there has been minimal research completed on it and treatment options are scarce. Orly and Andrew sought out the leading physicians and oncologists at The University of Michigan, The University of Miami, and their home state of New York to help her defeat this disease. Over the last two and a half years, she tried many intense chemo and immunotherapy options, as well as an invasive liver procedure in February 2020, all with limited or no success. Simultaneously, during this time, they worked tirelessly to raise awareness for ACC in South Florida and funds to increase research.

In January, Orly’s health declined to the point where she and Andrew made the difficult but necessary decision to start in-home hospice care.

On Monday, February 1st, Orly’s courageous battle ended peacefully ended at home surrounded by Andrew, her sister, and her nephew.

The Orly Goldman Memorial Fund was created to help pay for Orly’s medical care at home, to provide emotional support services for their children, and to help pay for any final funeral expenses. The world Orly and Andrew worked so hard to create over the last 11 years has been shattered and they can use the love and unwavering support from family, friends, and colleagues during this tremendously difficult time.

If you would like to assist her family, any donation through GoFundMe would be appreciated.

On behalf of Orly, Andrew, and their entire family, we appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support over the past few weeks and undoubtedly in the weeks to come.
