Orlando Barrera—alias “El Greñas”, “Peque” o “Gabino”—was unlike any other.

Unfortunately, he parted from this world doing what he loved most: working. This single father and new grandfather wanted to spend the rest of his days enjoying time with his daughters and grandson. However, these plans will remain mere dreams.

Orlando, a 48 year-old Chicago resident, worked as a truck driver and was set to drive through Missouri on April 1, 2026. In the early hours of the morning, the semi-truck ran off the side of the road and hit a ditch. The cargo then shifted toward the cab, and fatally injured the driver.

The news has greatly impacted the family awaiting his arrival with his usual, energetic greetings. Yet the mourning extends beyond the boarders of Chicago and the USA.

These donations serve one purpose: to fulfill Orlando’s wishes and help his family commemorate a wonderful life. We are asking for donations to bring Orlando back to Chicago as he currently remains in MO and away from his family. They also serve to give his Chicago family an opportunity to say goodbye before he’s laid to rest in his beloved nation of Mexico.

Lamentablemente, partió de este mundo haciendo lo que más amaba: trabajar. Padre soltero y recién convertido en abuelo, soñaba con pasar el resto de sus días disfrutando del tiempo con sus hijas y su nieto. Sin embargo, esos planes hoy quedan solo como sueños.

Orlando, residente de Chicago de 48 años, trabajaba como conductor de camiones y tenía previsto pasar por Missouri el 1 de abril de 2026. En las primeras horas de la mañana, el tráiler se salió del camino y cayó en una zanja. La carga se desplazó hacia la cabina, causando lesiones fatales al conductor.

La noticia ha impactado profundamente a su familia, que esperaba su llegada con sus saludos llenos de energía de siempre. Sin embargo, el duelo se extiende más allá de las fronteras de Chicago y de los Estados Unidos.

Estas donaciones tienen un solo propósito: cumplir los deseos de Orlando y ayudar a su familia a honrar su hermosa vida. Estamos solicitando apoyo para poder traer a Orlando de regreso a Chicago, ya que actualmente permanece en Missouri, lejos de su familia.
