Orion's Amputation

Donation protected
My daughter, Marissa, and her boyfriend, Cory, are raising money for Orion's vet bills. Anything helps; a couple dollars, donations directly dropped off at Kindness Animal Hospital in Orion's name, prayers, good vibes, love sent Orion's way. Here's their story:

"From the day we saw Orion, we knew he was a little fire cracker with a loving heart. Like the husky he is, he loves to run & play with any and everyone (dogs, horses, people; anyone who can keep up with our fast boy).

On Wednesday, April 12th he got off his leash in Alvarado, MN and the last time he was seen was at 7:00 am. We were heartbroken, but stayed hopeful and positive that he would come back home.
Monday, April 24th, after 12 days of countless hours worrying, thousands of miles driven, hundreds of Facebook posts shared & fliers hung, we got a call that Orion was by Grafton, ND (about 15 miles from where he was last seen in Alvarado, MN).
Immediately Cory & I drove to Grafton in hopes that we would be picking up Orion and taking him home. When we arrived at the kind man's house, he informed us he saw our flier and remembered our Facebook post. We saw Orion laying down in the shed, and when he stood up, we saw him limping and noticed the huge gash on his right foot with exposed bone.

When I knelt down & called his name, he came limping over & nuzzled into my neck & started howling and whining. He knew immediately it was Cory & I and was so excited to see us; words can't begin to explain how thankful we were it was our furbaby. We both thought we would never see him again, so to have our family member back in our arms was a blessing.

We immediately drove to Kindness Animal Hospital to have his foot looked at. After a few minutes (and many ticks later), the vet came back to tell us Orion was shot in the foot. I'm not sure who would do this, or when it happened, but anger & tears filled our eyes when we heard the news someone tried to kill our dog. The vet tried to take out the bullet fragments, but there was so much damage from the gun shot that Orion will need either half of his paw amputated or his entire leg.

On Thursday, April 27th, Orion will go back to the Kindness Animal Hospital to see if he will need a partial or full amputation on his right leg. Our total (ballpark) vet bill will be around $1,580. After his surgery, Orion will continue to need further treatments and possibly therapy after the amputation. Unfortunately, the $1,580 vet bill will not include the follow up appointments, (possible) therapy, and other medical supplies needed for his full recovery.

Cory and I both have full time and part time jobs, and we want Orion to have the best medical care possible. Unfortunately, that is a high bill for us & all we want is for Orion to be back to his normal, energetic self.

We're so happy our little wolf is back home and that we found him. Although this is not an ideal situation, we just want Orion to be happy and healthy; whether that means with 3 legs or 4 legs.

For those of you who have followed our story - thank you. We appreciate all the Facebook shares, fliers hung, hours spent driving around, prayers, and positive thoughts.
We'll keep praying for the person who shot him in hopes that he will never do this to any other dog & keep the smiles on our faces as we help Orion adjust after his surgery. Thank you again. "
