Organizing a skydive to fundraise for a neurosurgical ward!
My name is Pauline (Lizzie) Anderton, and I would like to share the story of my sister, Linda.
Linda’s Story:
On Monday, January 6, 2025, her life changed dramatically. While at her favourite clothing boutique in Mansfield Woodhouse, she unexpectedly collapsed and was quickly taken to the local hospital by ambulance. A CT scan later uncovered a serious condition: a bleed on the brain. She was subsequently transferred to The Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, where she had to undergo brain surgery. Following surgery, she spent a few days in an induced coma, relying on a ventilator, before being transferred to High Dependency. In a remarkable turnaround, she made significant progress and was transferred to a neurosurgical ward, D10. After a month of exceptional care at The Queen's Medical Centre, she has returned home and is now on the path to a strong recovery.
Fundraising for Ward D10:
While at the hospital, I contemplated Linda's challenges and the fear she must be feeling. Simultaneously, I felt immense gratitude for the extraordinary care and compassion she was receiving. At that moment, I spotted a fundraising poster for a charity skydive, which I saw as a fantastic opportunity to contribute and give back.
Although I usually embrace challenges, the thought of leaping from a plane causes me a bit of anxiety. Nevertheless, I am determined to face this challenge on June 7, 2025, at Langar Airfield. I kindly ask for your support; every penny raised will go directly to the Neurosurgical Ward D10. This funding will be dedicated to enhancing the comfort of both patients and staff during their time on the ward.
