~Gigi and Pops Farm~
My parents house was a place that all of us kids even kids that weren’t hers, could call home. IT had HOME written all over it, babies favorite toys and snacks spread across the living room, family dinners, therapy sessions, and more. Gigi and Pops never said no to watching their grand babies and having just one more sleepover. Our parents and their farm meant so much to all our kids, they never stop talking about the cows and the chickens, or the hand made sledding hills (thanks to Pops and his tractor). There was never enough room for all of us for family dinner but it never stopped us from all squishing in the living room closely talking about our lives and sharing unforgettable memories. My mom is that mom that held onto every memory of us as kids and all the art projects in school. These things that she lost are not replaceable but are the things that added memory to her home.
It meant so much to my parents as well as it did to us, they became grandparents for 6 grandbabies within 2 short years in this house. My mom works from home while watching my sisters 2 boys so she could work during the day. Recently my mom and dad started a new garden that up and took off this summer. They spent hours and hours a day to make it a place where her grandbabies could learn how to make their own garden one day. Pops was always outside, feeding the animals and working on just another project, there was too many projects they could do or think about to be another great addition to their farm. As hard as my mom tried, her farm animals ended up being close pets. We called one of the cows “cow dog” its exactly how it sounds. My mom brought him into the house and bottle fed him for hours to make sure he had all the nutrition he needed to survive due to the mom abandoning him at birth. Their farm was more than their home. It was everything to them. The newly remolded kitchen that they did 95% themselves, it was hard work and memories that is the hardest part of the loss.
It’s not the replaceable clothes or the hygiene products and the things we truly need everyday that is hurting the most. It’s the things at Gigi and Pops farm that can never be replaced or forgotten. I can speak for all of my siblings and friends who has ever been there and say, their home was all of OUR home.
I am putting together this go fund me for my parents who lost their home due to the Oregon Rd. fire. We want people to be able to donate anonymously, as people may know multiple people in our community and it’s a way for them to keep their financials and their daily lives safe. The reality is that my parents have lost a lot, but as we continue to look at our donations we have received, it begins to humble us and gives us a new sense of purpose. My Family feels very uncomfortable asking for help.
“We need to remember we are NOT the only ones going through this hell our entire community our extended families and friends are as well. We can use what people donate to also help others less fortunate than us. We understand that a vast number of people have not recovered from covid and rely on community support to eat on a daily basis. To help ease me having to humble myself in a way we would never want anyone else to feel. We can in turn help others that may need it more, the people living in their trucks in staging areas waiting for another call to help some evacuate. This we are okay with.” -Bill Guyette
As fortunate we are to have our family surrounded by us in Washington state, we have to continue to remember there are friends in our community who don’t have family or anyone near to help them at all. We also want to add how difficult it is to accept help when you know there are people struggling more than yourself. My family will continue to accept your donations and continue to provide what they need for their family to live and be sustainable. Make no mistake we will be pouring your donations back out to our community so we can be as of help the way you guys have been to us.
We can’t thank the community enough and more than that the God we have bigger than anything we can ever imagine. I pray we all seek him in times like this.
