Ora Parker moved herself and her 2 sons to NYC from Alabama for a better life. After some complications with depression and a relationship her oldest son, Alex, went to the roof of their 5 story building with the intention of jumping. After considering his family, he had a change of heart, as he went to step down his sock caught on protruding metal and he fell 5 stories. Both feet were shattered on impact but he miraculously survived.

While caring for Alex in the hospital, Ora went a block to the store when 3 men approached her, restrained her, and hit her repeatedly with a metal bar. All of her teeth were broken and removed. 

On top of everything, she is suffering from cancer and possible eviction due to the overwhelming medical bills and inability to work.
