Oral Reconstructive Surgery for Tai-Marie
Donation protected
On May 18, 2019 our daughter, Tai Marie was the victim of a violent crime which resulted in her being shot five times at close range. She was not the intended target, however, she happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
By the grace of God she is alive. While her recovery has progressed well over the last month, Tai is still currently waiting on an additional restorative surgery. One of her injuries was a bullet to the face which penetrated her cheek and left extensive damage to her face, mouth and teeth. Our entire family is soliciting all of your prayers, healing energy, and love as she continues to heal both physically and emotionally. While we know wounds eventually heal, the trauma of this experience will be long lasting. Please continue to lift her and us as we continue the long road to recovery.
As you can imagine, the financial burden this has placed on our family has been significant. Her remaining surgery to restore function to her mouth is not covered by insurance and is close to $50k. Anyone who has been privileged enough to meet or know Tai knows that she is a kind, sweet and sensitive soul. She did not deserve this, but we know that God has a plan for her.
Family and friends we are reaching out to you on this platform because we need your encouraging words and support. Please consider donating towards her medical costs through GoFundMe or CashApp $LJC419.
We are grateful to all those who have called, sent cards and or reached out via social media. Courageously, Tai intends to return to Spelman College in the fall to complete her senior year. However, to do so she must have her surgery in time. While this time is painful, we look forward to her full recovery. Thank you for your care and concern.
Love,
Maurice & Lauren Cummings
