On Saturday 24th August 2024, two teams from Home Hill State High School participated in the Townsville Region Opti-MINDS challenge.
Both teams performed exceptionally well, resulting in a win for both Division II and III for the Media Communication category. As regional winners, both teams have been invited to compete in the State Opti-MINDS challenge on October 12th and 13th 2024 in Brisbane.
Opti-MINDS’ Mission Statement:
The Opti-MINDS Creative Sustainability Challenge is an inclusive team challenge which EMPOWERS participants to THINK, CREATE & COMMUNICATE. Opti-MINDS is a creative problem-solving event for teams of participants from Preschool to Adult within 4 divisions.
Opti-MINDS’ aim is to enhance the potential of all participants by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management & the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging & demanding environment.
REAL WORLD BENEFITS:
• Opti-MINDS looks beyond conventional achievement & understands that the pursuit of excellence knows no boundaries.
• Opti-MINDS offers participants a total experience, providing challenge & growth through its Long Term & Spontaneous problem-solving structure.
• The Challenge process provides a platform for excellence & equips participants with strategies & skills which will support future success.
Being a small school of 197 students, this is an immense achievement. To ensure the 13 Home Hill State High School students and 2 teachers make it to the State Finals, we need sponsorship to help with travel, accommodation and transfer costs. We will also conduct other small fundraising drives, but we will be relying on the community support to get us over the line. A Go fund me was the most practical option for external support. These students already contribute to the community, and it would be nice to see them bring another trophy home.
