OPTFM 5K Virtual fun run or walk

Well folks, so far 2020 has been the year of events being postponed and cancelled. Unfortunately, Operation Transfaughsmation was one of those and that was a huge disappointment for us not being able to go ahead with our 10th year and missing out on the chance of having our usual exercise and fun and of course, most importantly, meeting friends old and new.
Our big 5k day has also fallen foul of Covid 19. However all is not lost, as we in Operation Transfaughsmation and Castleblayney Faughs have decided to try and salvage something from our programme and at the same time, help those who need us the most.
So for the McMahon’s SuperValu 5k 2020, we are going to go Virtual and all funds raised via our “gofundme” page will go to help Castleblayney Cancer Society and Castleblayney St Vincent De Paul. 2020 has been a year where local charities have been faced with unprecedented difficulties raising funds despite the need for their help being in demand more than ever before.
So between the 1st and the 6th of December 2020, we are asking as many as possible to walk or run a 5k on any route of their choice and donate whatever you can to help these two wonderful charities.
Over the next 4 weeks, we will publish our “couch to 5k” programme and various routes that people can use to complete their 5k and feel part of OPTFM as best as we can, virtually at least.
As we go through the 4 weeks we would ask people to share photos, videos and thoughts as we progress through the month and allow us all feel part of the OPTFM community again.
