Don protégé
I married early, and didn't fully appreciate the wife of my youth. However, two children later, we ultimately divorced - in the ugliest possible way! As a result, my sons and I became estranged from each other, for many years.
I recently reconnected with them - after finding their active profiles on FACEBOOK - and sent a friend request (strangely enough, as that may seem), in the attempt to become friends with my children. Happily they accepted my request, and we began re-building a relationship, that should have had more time to be cultivated.
Early this morning, my younger son called me, trying to speak through his anguished tears and pain, and informed me that his brother (my eldest son Marquis), had died last night - due to health complications - and that news totally shook my entire world.
Nothing hurts more than a parent hearing that they've lost a child, and now I personally know what this pain is like! The simple matter of never being prepared to face tragedy is why this gofundme account is necessary, as the costs associated with trying to be there for my remaining son and to stay to be a part of the final arrangements that will be needed.
I have no realistic idea of how much will be needed. I put the total I'm asking for, in the hope that I can get at least this amount to get me there to North Carolina, and trust that GOD will provide the rest!
