OPJL Fan Drive

Imagine suffering through the summer heat in a windowless, cement room with no air conditioning, and no ability to cool down.

Now imagine doing that during a pandemic where good hygiene is life or death.

The Ohio Prisoners Justice League  was approved by ODRC to purchase fans to keep incarcerated people cool in increasing summer heat. Fans will go to those who don't have the monetary resources to purchase one themselves, as well as high risk individuals such as those who are 65+, with medical conditions that prevent regulating body heat (such as diabetes, heart disease, etc.), and those on medication that reacts poorly to high temperatures.

It is our hope to get a fan to 500 individuals, which is 1% of the current 50K prison population in Ohio. Each fan will be sourced through approved ODRC providers and will cost approximately $25.

$25 will provide one fan for one high-risk individual. $100 will help four people avoid heat stroke, respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses being exacerbated, heart attack, and dehydration.

The Ohio Prisoners Justice League is a group of people concerned about seeking justice for those currently incarnated. We fight for fair and humane treatment of our loved ones, family members, and all who are incarcerated. We urge the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections to actually rehabilitate and correct.
