I am a film maker in Chicago and was encouraged to make a documentary about BraveHearts Operation Mustang™.
When I discovered what a positive effect this program is having helping our military veterans heal from physical, mental and emotional challenges, I decided to go all in on the project, because these challenges affects so many of us, and few are aware of the problems our veterans are facing.
There is a situation that is unfolding right now.
Currently, a portion of our military veterans are challenged with finding a new purpose while reintegrating back into life after their service.
At the same time, there are nearly 50,000 wild mustangs that have been rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management and are being held in holding pens in with their future in the balance.
10 veterans who have already been working with BraveHearts, an equine therapy center outside Chicago, will go to Cheyenne, Wyoming's Frontier Days to demonstrate the horse gentling skills they have learned. They will show these skills while working to gentle 20 mustangs supplied by the BLM. Once the week is over, these horses will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
This event is a test of the program and its value to the Veteran Community as well as a proving ground to see if these wild horses can have a new future integrating into the human world after all these years of their being in the wild.
I would like to travel to Cheyenne, Wyoming and shoot the demonstration sessions with the horses to document the changes they go through during and after these gentling sessions with the veterans.
During the event, I will also interview the veterans and the instructors involved in the BraveHearts Operation Mustang™ program as well representatives from the Bureau of Land Management and the people who win the horses at the auction to discover the future of these newly gentled animals.
I have already personally invested to get the first day of footage and have funds for a portion of the costs of shooting in Wyoming and look forward to heading out west to capture the rest of the story.
I still need enough to pay for the camera and sound equipment and the wages of the shooting crew and our lodging. After the shoot, there will be editing expenses.
I am not taking payment for this project and am donating my time and resources to make this happen.
I am extremely grateful for your help in sharing in the expenses to finish shooting this film, which will give us a documentary of this captivating process while it unfolds and the stories of those involved.
I aim to highlight the benefits of this amazing program and the people involved both who run it and participate in it and to reveal the character of these military veterans who have decided that helping these horses and other veterans is their new purpose.
With immense gratitude,
Yours truly,
David Glossberg
