Marshall Fire Emergency - Kara, Kellan, & Del

One hour.
 
That's all it took for a small cloud of smoke to turn into hundreds of charred acres and a fire pushed forward by 115 mph wind gusts. In that hour, Kara saw the building black plumes, collected what she could, and left her home in Superior, Colorado.
 
We only know a few things for certain - Kara, Kellan, and their furbaby Del are all safe in Boulder. Kara was able to grab a few important items, but there wasn't much time. We know their home was full of treasured memories, an instrument collection multiple decades and continents in the making, a lifetime's story told in hunting, camping, and ski gear.
 
We don't know if the house is gone, but reports from the neighborhood are saying more than 300 homes have been lost. As Kara shared on the phone, "I didn't know the neighborhood even had that many houses."
 
We know it's not normal to lose everything to a wildfire in the foothills of the Rockies well into the winter season; that fire is a random, wild, and devastating force to reckon with; and that this fire is still far from over.
 
We know that one thing we can do from the other side of the country is find a way to help make Kara and Kellan's next step — whatever that may be — a little easier to take.
