Operation Service Pup For Oakley

Oakley is an energetic, animal-loving, sweetest you’ll ever meet five-year-old boy. He loves playing with his siblings and cousins and tending to his flock of chickens and roosters. Since he was around three, he had complained of frequent headaches. He had seen his primary physician, a neurologist, and an optometrist, but nothing really helped him.

Fast forward to this past spring. I (his mother) noticed he was sleeping a lot more during the day, which was odd because he is normally a very active child. At the end of April, I witnessed him having a seizure while he was sleeping. He was taken back to the neurologist, who ordered an EEG. The diagnosis was Generalized Epilepsy, with his seizures occurring mostly during his sleep.

Seizure response service dogs are trained to alert when their owner begins to seize. For Oakley, having a service dog who would alert his parents when he begins to have a seizure could be potentially life-saving! Unfortunately, these dogs and their training can cost $15,000 or more.

Thankfully, we have located a certified trainer local to us who will train the pup at a much lower and affordable rate. The dog itself will cost somewhere between $1,000-$2,000. Training will be slightly more than $4,500 plus travel.

We have a total goal of $7,000 to cover the cost of the dog, initial vet costs, training costs, and associated expenses. Please help us to make Oakley’s service pup a reality! If you can’t give, please share and pray for our sweet boy! Thank you and God bless!
