HELP ROT THE KITTEN GET HEALTHY
Donation protected
As much as we wanted to avoid doing one of these, it's become increasingly apparent that we need to reach out and ask for some help.

This is our little dude, Rot. He is a 4 month old Lykoi kitten and has been a member of our family for just about 3 weeks. We love him infinitely. Unfortunately, during the first week of him being home, he started to show signs of illness like diarrhea and vomiting and over the following days (and multiple vet and ER visits) he began to display other symptoms such as to losing weight, disinterest in eating or drinking water, became listless, dazed and extremely lethargic. To the point where he could not lift his head and would get up to go to the bathroom and then go right back to sleep. In that time, we consulted with our vet every day and brought him in to be tested for FIP. Those test results eventually came back negative though it isn't being completely ruled out due to this particular disease being difficult to diagnose.
On February 1st, he took a turn for the worst when he started crying out/meowing any time we touched him or even when he tried to walk or stand up. He dozed off and I counted his breathing which was rapid and took his temperature which was 105.2. We rushed him to the ER again. Shoutout to the one Uber driver who would pick us up during the blizzard to get him there.

Since then, Rot has been in the care of the emergency clinic for the past 3 nights. They say he is "a complicated case" which isn't what you want to hear as already distraught pet parents but they have been excellent and are exploring every avenue to figure out the cause of his discomfort.
We have been to the emergency vet six times in the last week and a half. We have paid for endless disease tests, intensive blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds and hospitalization treatment. As of today, we signed off on a CT scan to check deeper in his abdomen for possible complications the doctors have been honing in on. On paper, he is an otherwise healthy baby boy. He isn't physically deteriorating at this point which gives us hope that this can be conquered but breaks our heart to know he is suffering from this unidentified issue.
After speaking with the financial department, our remaining bill is estimated to be between $8500 for all of these costs. $12,000 if they find surgery is needed after the CT scan. Add in medications, follow-up visits and potential extra procedures...it's just too much for us to handle on our own right now. It feels very open ended at the moment. If we could spend every cent we have, we would but it's just not tangible.
( missing our regular belly naps)
He is fighting just as hard as we are to get through these uncertain times. We all desperately need a clear answer as to what's wrong with our sweet little dude. He means the WORLD to us and deserves a pain free, happy and healthy life.
We are doing literally all that we can to give that to him. He matters. We hope that you feel he matters too.
Any help you can provide Rot on his quest to recovery (and grocery bag parties) would be appreciated, immeasurably. We will be posting updates with invoices from his treatments. Thank you in advance for your compassion and kindness. It means more to us than we could ever properly articulate.
