I’m reaching out to ask for support to help get my dog Gordy out here to Australia.

When I moved away from Seattle, I was very much alone in a new city. After a few months I knew I needed a companion. I was lucky enough to find Gordy: a Chihuahua x Jack Russell, who was rescued from the streets of Tijuana as a pup (known as Gordito at the time!). Gordy was there for me when there weren’t many people around and caring for him gave me a purpose and filled me with love. I cannot imagine a life without Gordy.

Now that I’ve moved to Australia, I am working on a plan to get Gordy Down Under. Here in Melbourne, he will have 2 pug sisters, a co-parent and a loving household. I’ve done all the leg work for the past 6 months in order to get him here with me, Janina, Norma and Betty. My Australian visa costs are gonna run at $8,000 USD which, together with my moving expenses, has got me pretty tapped out. The cost for Gordy’s safe transit to Australia is around $5,000 USD.

Usually when I get the word out for a cause it’s because something terrible has happened and I know that there are more deserving causes out there than some yahoo trying to move his dog across the planet. But I think this is a unique opportunity to donate to create something positive, rather than fixing something that has gone wrong.
