Operation Get Colin to France.

Shew buddy ... I'm bad at this. If you know me at all you know how ~deeply~ uncomfortable this makes me. But this is an opportunity that may not ever present itself again, and I gotta make it happen if I can. Long story short, I have the opportunity to travel to Brittany and play the Bombarde with Bagad New York (a Bagad is a uniquely Breton phenomenon: a pipe band instrumented with bagpipes, drums, bombardes and often more) at the world's largest Celtic festival, the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. (FIL)

This is, for me, about as big a deal as it gets.

Now, FIL is paying a portion of our travel and living expenses, but we are on the hook for our own airfare to/from France and other costs like buying uniforms, extra reeds, travel insurance, that sort of thing.

Again, if you know me at all, you know how huge an opportunity this is for me, not only getting to participate in the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, but also for the networking possibilities and the learning opportunities that will come my way.
