Almost 9 years ago, as a puppy, Blu came into my life and changed the trajectory of my whole world. At 18 years old, new to college, and navigating life as an "adult," Blu became my safe haven, my comfort, my family, and the most consistent form of unconditional love in my life.

He easily became my favorite shotgun rider, hiking buddy, and adventure partner. He has been my crying shoulder through every season of my life and has been there for me through all the ups and downs. Anyone who knows me knows how much this dog means to me... he is my whole world.

He has relocated with me multiple times, moving cities, states, and now countries. He, naturally, has just as much of a wanderlust heart as I do. He thrives on adventures and new environments; he LIVES for exploring.

The reason for this GoFundMe is simply to bring Blu to New Zealand as fast as possible, by the end of 2026. I've already started a savings account and we could do it alone... but ideally, we know it would take us years to save up enough to get him here, years that we won't get back with Blu. Years that we'll miss out on more adventures, more cuddles, and more memories. As this is extremely uncomfortable for us to ask for help... our friends & family have encouraged us to so they have an avenue to show their support. Even if you don't have extra funds, emotional support and words of encouragement are more than enough to us! We welcome all forms of support <3

So why New Zealand? My partner Ricky is from New Zealand and navigating long distance has been so tough. We both visited each other's home countries to see where we'd want to kickstart our life together and decided that we'd feel the most aligned in New Zealand. There are so many things that we love about the States, but New Zealand is more supportive towards building a family. Ricky has a consistent job in forestry of over 10 years, and I honestly felt at home as soon as I landed in NZ. Not to mention, it's absolutely a dream living here... there's so much to do and see. There are so many great camping spots, hikes, and adventures we can't wait to embark on together, as a family.

All funds raised will go directly towards getting Blu to New Zealand. I will attach the link from our service provider, Starwood, that will help get Blu to New Zealand so you can see a breakdown of all of the costs and what it will take to get him here. It is a 6+ month process of preparation between vet visits, vaccinations, quarantine, tests, etc.

New Zealand is really strict when it comes to bringing animals into the country due to native plants and animals that need to be protected, which is a huge reason why it costs so much. I could go about this process without using a pet travel agency to cut costs, but there are so many steps that I would hate to accidentally overlook something and get denied at the border. I want this process to be as smooth, stress-free, and easy on Blu as possible. I want to know that he is in the best of hands and cared for the entire trip, start to finish; that is my priority.
