Operation for Lita

Hola friends,

Those if you that know me know that Mexico is my home, and the small village of Boca de Tomatlan is of particuliar importance to me. It is not just the magical land there that draws this tiny town close to my heart, but more so the people there. When I moved there I was very much an outsider to their small community and they invited me in with warmth and honesty. This is a village of simple hard working families that form a tight nit community. When things happen in Boca such as a storm approaching, everyone works together to ensure all are safe and prepared. No one is left behind.

Over the years, two sisters in particuliar have become extended family to us, sharing holidays and celebrations together, as well as working their land and sharing food, laughs and tears.

Now one of these sisters, Lita, who is like my Mexican abuela needs our help and support. Lita is currently in the hospital awaiting surgery. She is experiencing health issues that are causing other issues to form. Her blood pressure has been unstable, she has been battling fever, anemia, and kidney issues. It has recently come to light that she has severe kidney stones that are preventing her kidneys from being able to function correctly, which the doctors believe is causing these other health issues she is experiencing.

As shared before, this is a simple no frills community. Lita has served this community breakfast at her little stand in Boca for decades, always being there to support others with a smile and a story.

Now is our time to be able to flip the coin on the other side and be there to support her and her story with a share and a smile, and put into practice as this community does, no one left behind.

If each of my FB friends would donate only one dollar we would be almost half way to our goal already.

In this tiny town, the saying it takes a village is a true and lived statement.

I hope that we can come together as community to support this wonderful woman in her time of need, providing her with a life saving operation so she can once again share her smiles and support as she always has.

Los que me conocen saben que México es mi hogar, y el pequeño pueblo de Boca de Tomatlán es de particular importancia para mí. No es solo la tierra mágica lo que atrae a este pequeño pueblo a mi corazón, sino más aún la gente de allí. Cuando me mudé allí, yo era un extraño en su pequeña comunidad y me invitaron a entrar con calidez y honestidad. Este es un pueblo de familias sencillas y trabajadoras que forman una comunidad muy estrecha. Cuando suceden cosas en Boca, como la proximidad de una tormenta, todos trabajan juntos para garantizar que todos estén seguros y preparados. Nadie se queda atrás.

A lo largo de los años, dos hermanas en particular se han convertido en una familia extendida para nosotros, compartiendo días festivos y celebraciones juntas, además de trabajar su tierra y compartir comida, risas y lágrimas.

Ahora, una de estas hermanas, Lita, que es como mi abuela mexicana, necesita nuestra ayuda y apoyo. Lita se encuentra actualmente en el hospital esperando la cirugía. Ella está experimentando problemas de salud que están causando que se formen otros problemas. Su presión arterial ha sido inestable, ha estado luchando contra la fiebre, la anemia y problemas renales. Recientemente salió a la luz que tiene cálculos renales graves que impiden que sus riñones funcionen correctamente, lo que los médicos creen que está causando estos otros problemas de salud que está experimentando.

Como se compartió antes, esta es una comunidad simple y sin lujos. Lita ha servido este desayuno comunitario en su pequeño puesto en Boca durante décadas, siempre estando ahí para apoyar a los demás con una sonrisa y una historia.

Ahora es nuestro momento de poder tirar la moneda al otro lado y estar allí para apoyarla a ella y a su historia con un compartir y una sonrisa, y poner en práctica como lo hace esta comunidad, que nadie se quede atrás.

Si cada uno de mis amigos de FB donara solo un dólar, ya estaríamos casi a la mitad de nuestra meta.

En este diminuto pueblo, el dicho se necesita un pueblo es una afirmación cierta y vivida.

Espero que podamos unirnos como comunidad para apoyar a esta maravillosa mujer en su momento de necesidad, brindándole una operación que le salve la vida para que pueda compartir nuevamente sus sonrisas y su apoyo como siempre lo ha hecho.

Es con profunda gratitud que agradezco a cada uno de ustedes que puede ayudar de alguna manera. Puede que no piense que un dólar puede ayudar, pero absolutamente puede.
