OPERATION: Child's Play - Autistic Play Area

Robert Slack LLC (Realtors, Naples Team) is joining forces with Home Base Southwest Florida to bring a safe play environment for the Autistic children of Navy Veteran Teresa Ruiz.

 

Teresa joined the Navy in 2006 and was deployed to Iraq to begin her service in the Lioness program. She was medically discharged in 2008. Since returning from Iraq she has experienced many hardships and heartaches. Teresa is a single mom of 3 children, 2 of which have been diagnosed with Autism. 12 year old Antonio lost his father earlier this summer and has had a devastating effect on him. Flora-Luna (4 years old) has Autism, level 3 severity and is non-verbal. Leonardo (3 years old) has been diagnosed with Autism on the Asperger's spectrum. 

 

With hard work, dedication and a full heart, Teresa was able to obtain the means to buy her family their very own forever home. When we asked Teresa what we could do for her home, she immediately focused on the needs of her children. She asked if we could create a safe playground environment in her large yard. With a little bit of nudging we learned of a wish list of possibilities: therapeutic safe swing, a cool-down splash pad with water feature, in-ground trampoline, covered pergola area for shade and other Autistic Sensory designed play areas as well as a shed conversion to a gaming room for Antonio. Speaking with Teresa, it was quite clear her entire focus is on her children and their needs, not the beautification of her home. For this reason we knew right away we had found the family we were looking for. 

 

We are raising funds to cover the cost of the items and equipment needing purchased. Please help us make this families dreams come true by donating towards our goal today.
