In an effort called Operation Phoenix Blue; We are raising money for a $1000 Reward for information leading to the alleged abusers arrest & dismantling of an illegal Maricopa dog fighting ring. We are also raising for ongoing medical expenses & supplies for Phoenix‍ Blue.

The award amount will be raised as donations come in!

We’re calling on Maricopa businesses to fund this reward high enough to create some traction. On 8/26 while driving on a dirt road; I witnessed a man swinging this pit bull puppy by the tail & kicking it into the air, as I quickly approached him, he jumped in his truck and fled. I opened the door to check on the puppy and he climbed into my truck, under my feet, and frozen in fear. I sat with him feeding him tiny bites of banana until he felt safe to move again.

I took him home and then to the animal hospital where it was confirmed he is a “bait dog” used in dog fighting. His ear is ripped, he’s covered in scars on his neck, and is severely emaciated. Additionally, his tail has repetitively been broken over an estimated 3-5 times.

He has a long journey ahead but with the right care & love from our community we know he will rise up! He has gone small time viral & is loved by many! As a community we decided to name him Phoenix Blue, to symbolize his ability to endure deep pain while also holding the power to rise up from the ashes.

I turned to the community for help, and tips started pouring into my inbox from local citizen and local veterinarians about a man & truck that matched who I saw in my encounter.

This man is known & it is alleged he runs a dog fighting ring right here in our community. Many people have information & have witnessed the abuse, the tips are pouring in including a photo of the vehicle & plate number which was taken by a scared bystander as he doused the kenneled dogs in peroxide at the Frys on John wayne parkway in July (See Photo)

I’ve taken all the appropriate steps with authorities. Both MPD & Animal Control are aware & on the lookout.

This is OUR community & we NEED to speak up! We all have probably seen evidence of this at one time or another, it’s time we fight for these animals who are tortured & unable to fight for themselves!

Phoenix Blue is the sweetest soul & after all he has been through he still just wants to snuggle up under my chin and simply be loved. No animal deserves to be beat, neglected or burned…. And there is no place for it in our community!

We as a community need to do better for these animals! If you have info, do the right thing, you can be anonymous. We can no longer turn our heads to what we ALL know is happening in our own backyard. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Lastly but certainly not least I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our community for rallying around this sweet boy! Christmas has been my passion & career. Many of those whom donated are my Maricopa customers!

Three nights ago Phoenix & I sat in my garage by my Christmas tree’s sniffing & digging into his first donations/presents. It was his first Christmas & seeing his tail wag was EVERYTHING.

Health Update: 

Lab tests show no major diseases, including tickborne illness. However, he is having a difficult time with refeeding syndrome because he hasn't food in so long its very difficult for his body to process anything we feed him. He is experiencing horrible gastrointestinal symptoms so we need to put him on a diet of rice, chicken, and pumpkin. If you're looking to donate food, please consider these ingredients rather than bagged dog food in the meantime. In terms of supplies, we are also looking for potty pads and other potty training supplies. Once we can get him off of the chicken and rice diet, he will be placed on Purina Pro Plan puppy food.
