Operation Matthew Brandley's Recovery
On June 22, 2021, Specialist(SPC) Brandley, Matthew sustained a head injury during Airborne training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was completing the combat equipment jump, which was the 3rd jump in a series of five jumps. SPC Brandley made a hard landing causing him to hit his head and lose consciousness. He was airlifted from the drop zone to a hospital where he underwent brain surgery to remove a hematoma. After the surgery, he was put under a medically induced coma to aid in his recovery. SPC Brandley is now awake and making progress everyday with his recovery, but there is still a long road ahead. According to his physicians, his recovery will take anywhere from 12 to 18 months. There is still much in the unknown as is often then case with brain injuries.
SPC Brandley is a husband, father to four young sons, friend, and soldier of the U.S. Army National Guard. He has been a mentor to many, and has always been willing to extend a helping hand to those who were in need. Those of us who have experienced said kindness and wisdom wish only to help SPC Brandley and his family. Having said this, we would like to ask for your kindness and financial support in aiding SPC Brandley and his family through these tough times. This support would allow for SPC Brandley to receive treatment and focus on his recovery.
