Opera in Concert in Italy

Hello friends! My name is Caitlin Chisham, and I am a sophomore at the University of Cincinnati - College-Conservatory of Music, one of the top conservatories for my major, which is Vocal Performance (or opera). Recently, I have been accepted into a program in Urbino, Italy called "Opera in Concert". This program includes 15 hours of Italian language study with the University of Urbino, private voice lessons and coachings, performance opportunities in unique venues such as ancient castles, historical buildings, and 19th-century theaters singing arias, duets, and opera scenes, attending other concerts, Italian cooking classes, and even excursions!

Since I was unable to do a summer program last summer due to health reasons, this is a unique opportunity to pursue this summer program. Studying voice has always been my dream since I was young, and it would be a dream to travel to another country for the first time. Traveling to Italy will not only familiarize me with its culture but also enhance my fluency in Italian, which increases my connection, or thinking in Italian rather than translating from English, with my repertoire and the operas I am studying. Continuing voice lessons and coachings is a great way of progressing in my vocal studies because I can work with teachers with different perspectives, processes, and ideas. Academically, the transferrable credits will be beneficial for completing my Bachelor's degree and will be a wonderful introduction to CCM's undergraduate opera program's opera for next year.

As a thank you, I would like to announce that I will be having a recital in May! The repertoire includes a culmination of songs I have worked on during my time so far in CCM.
