Open Your Heart with Anson

Hello world, my name is Anson! I am currently living in Sin City aka Las Vegas, NV and I wanted to share my story. At the ripe age of 1 day old, I arrived and since then it’s been a wild party of being milk drunk, late night dance parties, sleeping at all random hours of the day and meeting all sorts of interesting people! I also have these three roommates, one is furry and slobbers a lot. The other ones are the greatest though! They are my parents, Nathan and DiAnna. They love me very much and had to wait a very long an often-sad time for me to come along. So, last year when they found out I had made the move with them from Alaska to Las Vegas, they felt like they had finally hit the jackpot! However, it was a long and tough road for both of them while I was growing, but it was extremely rough on my mom. (Hi, mom, love you!) She had to go through a lot, but I promise, I am totally worth it! My parents love for me is sooo strong and had to be packed into such a small little me, that as I was growing, I popped a small hole in my heart where the love was the strongest. Unfortunately, while these holes usually close on their own, the love flowing through was so strong, mine just cannot seem to close on its own. So, the friendly and miracle working team at the Children’s Heart Center of Nevada are going to help me out with that part. This surgery is pretty routine for the experts over there, so, I am not worried, but mom and dad really are. Hopefully they do not go completely grey before I even turn one!

(this is the fancy/gross medical part, so heads up!)

My condition is called Tetralogy of Fallot (“TOF”) – this is a serious heart condition made up of 4 related heart problems. There is a hole between the 2 lower chambers (the ventricles) of my heart – The main blood vessel that brings blood to the body (the aorta) lies over the hole between the ventricles – The main blood vessel that goes to my lungs (the pulmonary artery) gets narrowed – The muscle of my lower right ventricle starts to look like Popeye. These problems cause me to have less oxygen in my blood than I should, which can make me feel and look like a Smurf, especially if I am crying or upset. This can also give me a heart murmur, which is what alerted my doctor to my condition at first. I was born with this and I will have a scar on my chest as I continue to grow, to remind me that there was so much love that my heart literally couldn’t hold it all!

Ok, the medical part is over!! Whew!

As I said before, I trust mom, dad and the great team they are working with to take care of me, and I know that I have soooo many family and friends that will help them keep their sanity. However, what I am really worried about here my first Christmas, a trip to Disney, my first car, my college... and unfortunately, because I am so little and the surgery is going to require me to open my heart, I ask if you could spare a moment or two and open yours as well to help my parents out, just a little bit with the unfortunately high debt I am racking up for them. Otherwise, I am going to have to do yard work and newspaper routes starting as soon as I can walk on my own! They are working off a single income that dad is working so very hard to maintain, as mom has to stay and take care of me and herself as she is still recovering too! My big brother Bluto is not much help either, he just lays around all day and barks when I try to sleep! Heck, I am so new, they are still trying to pay me off, now this! My rent is going to be crazy when I get my first job!

All jokes aside, my mom and dad are the most amazing people in the world. (I know everyone says their parents are, but I really mean it) They have a fierce and determined love that has seen them through many trials and years. My mom has opened her enormous heart to my 3 half brothers and raised them as if they were her own. Even after several Angel babies, she still kept trying for me and now that I have arrived, I just have to keep things interesting, I guess! She dances with me and cuddles me, takes embarrassing photos of me all the time and is my best friend. My daddy is so strong and is my hero, he is like a bear and gives the best hugs! They are people of strong faith that are so giving themselves and they have an unshakable bond that is the stuff of legends. I know they are both stubborn and would never ask for help, but I decided to get a little help from my Aunt to set up this GoFundMe thing to make things a bit easier on them. My surgery is going to be expensive and I would like to help them with my birth costs a little too that they are still to finish up paying. And if there is anything left over, maybe mom and dad could get me some ice cream! Thank you, my friends for reading this and learning about my world for a minute! If it is in your heart to give, please give what you can. If not, please send thoughts, prayers, good vibes, moon beams, smiles, rainbows, or whatever makes you smile that day so maybe my mom and dad can too!

Cute photos below for the extra aww factor!
