Open Your Heart for Junior Glymph

Time has indeed taught me that "we have everything, if we have our health", and our peace of mind. Time has also taught me that things beyond our control, can happen to change all of that very quickly.

Such is the time and the reason I am reaching out to you. We pick our friends, but real life situations sort them out. Junior Glymph feels more like family and needs us to huddle up, just like his football days, on his behalf.

Time is of the essence!
Like a two minute warning!

Junior Glymph is a 41-year-old husband, father of five (ages seven to 14), friend, son, sibling, and so much more. Anyone who meets Junior and his family, will quickly realize they are some of the kindest, and most selfless human beings you'll ever come across.

WHAT HAPPENED:
December 31, 2021 was a regular day for the Glymph household. Suddenly, Junior felt ill. He experienced shortness of breath, and chest pains. He let his wife Tasha, know and she quickly got him to Northside Hospital where he was admitted. They discovered he had a total of 13 blood clots in both lungs. Further testing showed these blood clots caused an aneurism in his main Aorta, which then caused a leaky valve in his heart. This domino effect almost cost him his life.

Junior remained hospitalized until January 6, when he was sent home due to the spiking number of Covid cases. He needed open heart surgery ASAP; however, it wasn’t possible until his body could dissolve the many blood clots in his lungs.

While going home was nice, it didn’t mean a whole lot. For the first eight weeks, he was at a medical appointment, or having tests run almost daily. Since then, he has still had about three appointments per week.

Juniors heart is operating at 50%. He has been on bed rest (with the exception of doctors appointments) since December 2021.

THE GOOD NEWS:
Junior has finally been cleared to have open heart surgery on Wednesday, April 27th at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital. He has been checked in since April 23rd, and tests are being run daily. The surgery will involve an entire team of doctors replacing his Aorta, which is currently almost double the normal size.

Post surgery he will be in an induced coma for about two days. Hopefully, ten days later he can go home. Then recovery begins!!!

THE NOT SO GOOD NEWS:
Junior is the primary provider for his family, and was last paid in January 2022, for work he did in December 2021. Fortunately, he has health insurance through his job. For three months, he received a mere $700 a month from short-term disability. He does not have any long term disability.

The monthly expenses the Glymph family is facing is approximately $4000. This is just to keep health insurance, their home, and pay basic utilities. This does not include ANY extras, such as clothing, school supplies, gas/transportation, groceries, etc. It was shared that over the past four months, their savings have been depleted.

Anything - and any amount - to help this beautiful family get through this extremely emotional, and financially challenging time, would be both a blessing, and greatly appreciated.

Please pray for Junior's quick and complete healing; for the wisdom, skill, and steady hands of his team of doctors who are determined to provide him with a second chance at life; and to his family for their strength, and resilliency.

Much love and peace to you all . . . and thank you for taking the time to read this!

God Bless!
