Corazon a Corazon - Heart to Heart for Jani Wright

Open letter from Jerry Joseph:
Greetings All ...... ( saying “hope all is well “ is just weird right now ... still...
This missive is to announce the launch GoFundMe for my friend Jani March Wright.
Many of you know Jani, she’s been married to our bass player Stevie James for 29 years and
always has something of a celebrity status among every crowd she runs with.
I’ve known Jani since 1983 ...she’s part of the fabric of my life and she’s my family in every sense of the word.
Jani has suffered a heart attack and other complications leading to almost complete heart failure. She’s operating with 20% of her heart and is home-bound and immobile. Jani awaits a pacemaker, but conceivably she’s looking at a heart transplant. Though she and Stevie carried catastrophic insurance, they still have medical bills north of 80k and growing...and like the rest of us... no income.
I have never seen ( and I certainly could have missed it ) a highly public fundraiser for a partner of a musician. Usually, as is the case here, the “at home” partner ... is often the primary bread winner and keeps the home life afloat while we terminally adolescent artists run around the world to play music. So when our partner goes down...our world sinks...
This might be the worst time in a hundred years to raise money for an individual’s health issues. Many of the typical strategies are simply not doable ( benefit shows , auctions , raffles).
So, I am going to start a series of online events...Music...cooking classes ? stand up ?...and give 25 percent of my earnings to Jani and Steve.
More importantly, with the help of Michele Weitzen, we have fired up this GoFundMe with the idea it stays up for at least three months...possibly providing cost of living income if not a dent in medical bills.
I know every single person is struggling right now, but Jani is our musical family and is really sick. I know we can come to some sort of support as a community.
I actually believe in prayer ... so say a prayer and throw in a couple bucks. Please and love and wash your hands .......... J
