Open Heart Surgery saved me, Help me Save my Family.

Asalamualykum,

On November 21st, 2024, the unimaginable happened to our loving brother, Osamah Gissri. After only one day of visiting family for Thanksgiving break in California, Osamah was rushed to the ER where he underwent emergency open-heart surgery.

Osamah suddenly started having intense pressure in his chest, he couldn’t move and was complaining of difficulty breathing. 911 was called immediately. He was rushed to the hospital where further tests were done. His results came back indicating his ascending aorta was dissected. Soon after, surgeons and the OR team rushed in and took Osamah to the operating room for a grueling 10-hour long surgery.

Alhamdulilah, by the will of Allah (SWT) and His mercy, Osamah was given another chance at life. The surgery was successful, and they were able to repair his ascending aorta and control his bleeding. Osamah is currently in the intensive care unit at Torrance Memorial Hospital, where he is beginning his long and challenging recovery, Inshallah.

As many of you know, Osamah’s wife, Eman, has also been recovering from a recent stroke. Alhamdulilah, she is making steady progress and hopes to return to work once she is fully healed.

Anyone who knows Osamah and Eman can attest to the incredible kindness and generosity they show to others. Osamah and Eman always offer help when needed, always giving selflessly to those around them. It is difficult to imagine them in a position where they need support, but this is one of those times.

They are parents to two beautiful children, Zacharia and Kareem. Both Osamah and Eman rarely ask for help, as they are always mindful not to burden others. However, with mounting medical expenses and both of them on medical leave, any support at this time would be a great blessing. The road ahead will be tough, and your kindness, whether through donations, sharing their story, or your duaas, would mean the world to them.

My name is Fatima Gonzalez and I am Eman Elshiyab’ sister and Osamah Gissri’s sister in law. The funds donated will be used for their mortgage, medical bills, and living necessities for their two small children as they are both on leave due to their medical conditions.
