Hello, everyone! I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and an ask for your support. My 35-year-old sister, Danelle, has to have open heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect. Danelle has Turner's Syndrome which is a genetic condition that affects her heart and overall health. She has been battling Turner's Syndrome since childhood, and now her heart requires critical intervention.
In case you don't know my sister: She is kind and caring and forgiving. She is one of the smartest and most well-read people I know. She loves to play games, write, and sing with her local choir and her little ShitZu, KoKo.
Turner Syndrome is a complex condition that affects females and can lead to various medical issues, including heart defects. (Read more here: https://turnersyndromefoundation.org/what_is_turner_syndrome/) Danelle's doctors have confirmed that open-heart surgery is the only option to repair the damage. The surgery is scheduled for September 11.
Danelle will be in the hospital for at least a week and out of work for at least 3 months to recover. As you can imagine, even with insurance the costs add up quickly.
Funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will be used to cover the following expenses:
1. Open Heart Surgery: The procedure(s) itself is incredibly intricate and costly, involving a team of skilled surgeons, anesthetists, and medical professionals.
2. Post-Operative Care: Following the surgery, my sister will require specialized care, including medication, monitoring, and multiple rehabilitations to ensure a successful recovery.
3. Ongoing Medical Expenses: Turner Syndrome necessitates regular medical check-ups, treatments, and therapies, which are essential for managing the condition and maintaining her overall health.
4. Loss of income: Danelle can't work for at least three months. These funds will give her peace of mind for her ongoing bills.
5. Accessibility and Accommodation: As my sister's mobility will be limited during the recovery phase, we might need to make modifications to our living environment to ensure her comfort and safety.
Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in my sister's life. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your network. Your kindness and compassion will not only alleviate the financial burden but also provide much-needed emotional support during this challenging time.
On behalf of Danelle, Abby, Madeleine and Peter & Annie, we express our deepest gratitude for your generosity, thoughts, and prayers. Your support will give Danelle the chance to live a full and vibrant life.
