Open an inclusive bookstore for all ages & interests!

Hi friends! My name is Tory (she/her) and I'm the proud owner & operator of Sower Books in Lincoln, NE. We've been operating online since September of 2023 and finally opened our brick & mortar storefront on Labor Day, 2024. Sower Books is for all ages and all interests, with a special focus on marginalized voices, community building, and local creators. (I'm partial to horror novels, so we have a robust horror section too!)

We could use your help, though! Opening and outfitting a business isn't easy, nor is it cheap. I'm confident that my background -- working in and managing fellow indie bookstores for the past eight years -- will make this store a success once the dust settles, but we have a lot of start-up bills to pay! A little about me, Tory, the owner/operator: I grew up around the world as an Air Force brat and Nebraska has become my adoptive home. I identify as queer, 'neurospicy,' and disabled from my prolonged fight against clinical depression; I've been battling it since my teens and mental health is of utmost importance to me. I'm an enthusiastic cat lady, '30 Rock' devotee, and juicy IPA drinker. My spouse and I love traveling (we met in German class) and we aspire to visit every MLB stadium (I'm an O's girl; he's a Cubbie). Our cats just turned 14 and they're cuter than your cats (but also please tell your cats I love them tooooooo). In my free time, I go to the library; chase my niblings; visit other bookstores; run; go thrifting for books; climb at our bouldering gym; read; nap. My red hatchback is named Portia and we've driven over 200k miles together.
