Opal's Journey: A Leg Up on Recovery
Donation protected
Sweet Opal was hit by a car on Harrison St and needed to have her rear left leg amputated. She's been such a trooper, but the vet bills are mounting and care will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. $3300 covers the cost of surgery only.
I adopted Opal last year at this time. Imagine, if you will, what kind of dog could go into a home where one person (me) was dealing with stress from cancer treatments and from work issues and the other person in the house is 99 years old and uses a walker. Very few dogs could have integrated into this household. But Opal was a rescue who had been "used" for breeding. She came to our house as an angel and has offered comfort and laughter and snuggles.
Now it's her time of need, and this angel deserves the best of care!
Mom (Mary Costello) is about to turn 100. She doesn't need or want gifts. But she does need to have her companion, who sits by her chair and even on her foot out of loyalty and love.
Thank you for any support you would like to offer our dear sweet Opal! — Judith Costello
