Op FAUST 2020 - 75th Anniversary Commemoration Activities
I am attempting to raise funds to bring two (2) deserving Junior Logisticians to Holland with me from 29 April - 8 May 2020. This activity is not publicly funded and members will be on leave during this time period. Along with the Canadian Forces Logistics Association, serving and retired Logisticians are attempting to raise funds that will allow for deserving junior members to connect with their history.
These deserving individuals will participate in Operation FAUST 75th Anniversary Celebrations and the reenactment of the Liberation of Holland being conducted by the Dutch Group "Keep them Rolling (KTR)" and will be selected from nominations received from across Canada.
The cost is estimated at $5000.00 per individual and includes air travel, accommodations, meals and travel by bus whilst in Holland.
The two selected will travel to Canadian battlefield sites of significant importance, Memorials, Monuments, Museums and Commonwealth War Cemeteries. Additionally, these deserving individuals will attend the 75th Anniversary ceremony at Wageningen to recognize Liberation Day. They will also participate in the “Keep Them Rolling” convoys.
The role of Canadian Logisticians was of significant importance to the liberation of the Netherlands and to delivering food aid behind enemy lines to the starving Dutch citizenry after their Hunger Winter of 1945.
